M.S. P-20

M.S. P20, commonly referred to as Mold Steel P20, is a pre-hardened tool steel that is extensively utilized in the mold-making industry. Renowned for its excellent machinability and uniform hardness, P20 steel features a balanced chemical composition with approximately 0.4% carbon, 1.8% chromium, and 0.4% molybdenum. This composition ensures a good mix of strength, toughness, and resistance to wear. Typically supplied in a pre-hardened state with a hardness range of 28-32 HRC, P20 steel does not require additional heat treatment, which simplifies the manufacturing process and minimizes the risk of distortion. M.S. P20 is particularly suited for the production of plastic injection molds, die casting dies, and various precision tools where a smooth, polished surface and dimensional stability are critical. Its reliability and ease of fabrication make it a preferred material for toolmakers and manufacturers in various industries.
